And They’re Off!!!!

And They’re Off!!!!

The ANTARCTIC Season has Started!!!

What a day!

After a grey, cold wet week, the sun came out and the wind died down and the precipitation stayed away for the guests to embark on Ocean Tramp.  The crew was up early, eager to greet the passengers!

While asked to arrive at 9, guests started arriving just before 8:30 out of pure excitement and fear of missing anything!  Once everyone was onboard, all passengers were asked to stow their gear in preparation for the Drake Passage.  Then everyone walked to immigration to stamp out of the country.

Once officially “out” of Argentina, there were a few more details to attend to – safety briefings, “how to live on board” (and most importantly – how to work the toilets – actually very easy!!).  Once the tours were complete, it was mid-day and Ocean Tramp let loose her lines and the team set off, East down the Beagle Channel.

watch the video as she leaves Ushuaia.  NEXT STOP: Antarctica!!!
