Ocean Tramp – Starry Nights!

Update from Mark Muench

Blog 16th Feb

After six days headed south, we’re making our way north again. We covered a lot of ground and sea yesterday, starting with a sunrise in Paradise Harbor where we photographed the mountains and Gonzalez Videla station in the soft morning light. From there we sailed among the icebergs and humpback whales, cruising through the Lemaire Channel all the way to Booth Island and Port Charcot, where we photographed penguins climbing steep mountain sides to their rookeries while skuas swooped and soared overhead. And to cap off a great day, the stars came out late last night! The night was clear and dark enough for us to see the Southern Cross over Mount Shackleton.

WOW — that’s just WOW!!! I can’t even imagine seeing something like this in person. My friend and fellow glass artist, Grace Penny, is on this expedition!!! Please say “hello” to her from all her workshop buddies at Carolina Stained Glass (Durham, NC). I admire Grace so much for doing this and have been very interested in hearing all about her adventures when she returns. Who knows…maybe I’ll summon all my courage and GUTS…and be on one of your next expeditions!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did y’all get my reply? I may have screwed up confirming via that whatever it was blog subscription thing.
