Hans Hansson – GREAT FINAL DAY

And we’re off……. Back across the wide, big, rough ocean towards Stanley. However its not over until its over and we took full advantage of our last day here in South Georgia. A pre-breakfast landing at Prion island to help with coastal mapping (and see some wandering albatross) and then a post breakfasting landing at Start Point / Salisbury Plain. It started rainy, but the clouds lifted and rain stopped enough to call it a great way to end the trip – tons of king penguins.

And the archeologists pushed it to the wire exploring the site here. The site was described as “well preserved and high potential for future investigation”.

Don’t expect long winded posts as we are crossing, but you can follow our progress on a map! our position is logged every 4 hours

Hi All. Great to hear that you had a good final day. Two islands, some archaeology, some droning, my old friends the wanderers and a few penguins. From the scattered posts and the accompanying photos, it looks as if you have achieved more than I had dared hope for. I know the weather was a bit iffy but it could have been worse!

Palindromic birthdays? How about 76:67.
I do hope the crossing is kind.
Cheers
Bob

It is August first now and I am still in wonder on the amazing expedition I was part of five months ago. Thank you Fedde, Laura, Bob Burton and Marcus Brittain.
