Glacier Ice and Showers

The day was still cloudy when we woke up, but the rain of the previous evening had stopped. By the time we were up our neighbors, Billy Budd II had already left and we wanted to move before breakfast, as the forecast was for stronger winds in the afternoon and evening. Before leaving, we went out to check the King crab trap, but today, we were not as lucky as the day before 🙁 To start the day we went up close to another glacier and in addition to the photo snapping, we gathered some ice for later in the day! Nothing like fresh ice from a glacier. We finished the day early before lunch and hunkered down in a cove waiting for the stronger weather to come. There is a waterfall nearby. Tesia had resorted to wearing hats after 4 or 5 days days of not showering, so she saw the waterfall as an opportunity. She suited up in my wet suit and we hopped into Sancho to go ashore. And hairwashing time it was! She impressed all of us as the water fall is directly from the glacier and there is not a hot valve. The temperature is in the very low digits for sure! Fede honked the horn as she returned and hot water for tea was waiting for her once she was back! Now she is the only clean person onboard – perhaps tomorrow we will make the leap as well. no Messages yesterday 🙁 we like to hear news!! ***You can send FREE text messages to us at http://messaging.iridium.com number: 881631529272
