Just arrived to Cook Harbour after a long day of sailing and filming. We started very early in the morning, leaving Hoppner at high tide at 7 am, in the middle of a snow storm, and sailed to San Juan del Salvamento, arriving again in the middle of another snow storm! We anchored at the head of the fjord and had lunch, waiting for the improvement in the weather, forecasted for the afternoon. And sure enough at 2 pm the film crew was disembarked at the End of the World Light House, ready to shoot the most important scenes of the show. The weather kept improving ending in a fantastic evening with beautiful colors, only seen in high latitude places. A few hours later the called on the radio, ready to come back onboard, all of them very happy for the achievement and of course for being at the famous Jules Verne Light House. They all signed the visit log book, and stamped books and passports with the Light House stamps.
Right after every one was back on board, we sailed to Cook Harbour, to spend the night and be ready to the final stop, tomorrow morning, at Observatory Island, a few miles away.
The plan is to shoot at the island during the morning and the sail to Franklin bay, to pick up the Scientist couple we dropped 2 weeks ago –they are ready to go back home! Weather is looking good for tomorrow so the Le Maire strait shouldn’t be too bad to us –time well tell!. Hopefully the tomorrow’s report will be sailing across the Le Maire on the way home!
