Alejandro Velenzuela wins award for otter research!

Proud?  YES!   Alejandro Valenzuela, has joined Ocean Tramp on two expeditions as a guest scientists, once last November 2016 and this past October to better understand the otter population on Isla de los Estados.  He presented his findings this past week at the  XXX Jornadas Argentinas de Mastozoología (JAM), the annual meeting of SAREM (Sociedad Argentina para el Estudio de los Mamíferos – The Argentine Society for the Study of Mammals).  His poster presentation focused on initial results form the first year of studying the otters on the island.

Also at the annual meeting, Ale was presented with the Fernando Kravetz Award.  This award is given to an outstanding presentation on Mammalian Ecology during the Jornadas Argentinas de Mastozoología.  CONGRATS  to Ale for winning the award (and of course we agree its very well deserved).

The award was presented for Ale’s “Interdisciplinary approach to the conservation of the Otter in Tierra del Fuego”!!!
