The temperature at sea is interesting, as it doesn’t change that much from the morning to mid-day and very little from day to night. The ocean, water, holds heat so much better than land that it’s the water that dictates our air temperature more than anything out here at sea. Looking at the log from a few days back, the max was 10 degrees C and the minimum was 8. A mere 2 degree spread. Of course if outside, the wind changes everything with wind chills many degrees less than true temperature. When inside the pilot house, with windows, the sun changes everything as well, with the pilot house acting as a wonderful green house as the sun rises.
That said each day it seems we lose a degree. The temperature on the day we left Mar del Plata was 15 degrees. Today so far the high is 7. Given that we are on our 7th day, the math seems to work out to indeed pretty much one degree per day!
Each day more gloves and hats are scattered about the main saloon.
Luckily we have a fantastic heater and lovely down duvets, so no matter what is blowing outside, we are happy and snug in our beds.
