Happy Antarctica Day!

Celebrating the Day of the signing of the Antarctic Treaty

On December 1, 1959, the Antarctic Treaty was signed by 12 countries starting the international collaboration to maintain Antarctica as a place of peaceful inquiry and scientific discovery.  We’re glad those countries got together and more joined them for a total of 53 countries who have signed the treaty.  This treaty is the reason Antarctica is free of oil drilling, free from mining, and is still pristine.  Yay for international collaboration in a time when it was challenging to do so (middle of the Cold War).

To celebrate, we’re sharing some of our favorite photos and why not celebrate by joining a trip?  We still have a few spots open!  Remember we have fly in and out options – so you don’t need to cross the Drake!
