Guest Scientist Applications for 2020-2021 Antarctic Season

An Exciting Opportunity for a Scientist to conduct research onboard a sailing vessel in the Antarctic Peninsula.  Past work has included penguin vocalizations, quantifying mercury in the southern ocean, Tartigrades, oxygen / hydrogen isotope ratios in the air, water, snow…

Each Season Quixote Expeditions brings 1-3 scientists on trips on Ocean Tramp during the season.  The post is an opportunity for a research scientist to be able to conduct research that they might not be otherwise able to access.  The trips are between 14-19 days long and have 5-7 guests onboard.  By being a sailboat we have time and flexibility to access places (and also some limitations!)  The scientists will also be asked to interact with the guests and include them as much as possible in data collection.  The scientist will also help the crew with the everyday running of the vessel.

The application cycle is open from March 18 – April 17 2020.  This is not a “free trip”, but an opportunity for an active researcher to collect data.  Decisions will be made in early May.
